What is a mums’ play date? Well, it’s a playdate for mums disguised as a playdate for kids 😂
There’s something about a house full of mums, kids playing in the background, and the smell of food cooking that just feels… fun.. well to me it does.
It wasn’t quiet. It wasn’t polished. But it was exactly what I hoped it would be.
I had done something similar once before – just a few of my closest mama friends. We had the blow-up water slide out, some nibblies on the table, and I set up my TM7 outside because one of the mums wanted to see the new Thermomix up close and personal.
It was such a fun day that I remember thinking… I want to do this again.
But not just once. I wanted to create something I could run regularly.
The same relaxed vibe. Opening up our playroom, letting the kids run around, and creating a space where mums could come together, connect, and feel inspired in a really real way.
Because I’ve been there.
I’ve always loved cooking, but after having my second child, I hit a point where I actually loathed being in the kitchen. And that honestly broke my heart. Because food has always been something that connects us. It’s how we nourish our families, how we show love, how we gather.
So I wanted to create a playdate that felt like coming over to a friend’s house…
but you leave with ideas that actually make your week easier, with or without a Thermomix.
On the last week of the school holidays, I hosted my first official Mums’ Playdate.
Kids running amok, mums chatting with coffee in hand, food being passed around… it was relaxed, a little chaotic, and exactly the kind of energy I was hoping for.
I invited some of the new school mums I’ve met since my eldest started, along with another mum who started her creative outlet on Instagram around the same time I did five years ago. We’d never actually met in person before, so I was so grateful she and her children could make it.
I themed the playdate around lunchboxes and quick dinner ideas.
Yes, I shared how I do this with my Thermomix (it really is like a third arm for me), but I also spoke about how everything can be done in a conventional kitchen too.

On the table, I had:
- mini banana muffins
- mini chocolate zucchini loaves
- mini chicken kievs
- pizza scrolls
- a garlic and capsicum dip
- and a freshly baked brunch bread filled with cheese, bacon, spinach and sundried tomatoes
Simple things, just made a little more nourishing and practical for everyday life.
Then I started cooking lunch for everyone, my go-to when we’ve had a full day out and I need something quick, simple, and able to look after itself while I juggle everything else…
Marry Me Chicken Pasta.
At one point, it was cooking away in the background while we were all sitting, chatting, and actually enjoying ourselves…
And that’s when it clicked again for me.
This is why I love having the Thermomix in my kitchen and why I love sharing it.
Not because it makes things fancy but because it gives me back time.
It gives me ease. It fits into real life. I mean, at what get together, that you host, can you be cooking as you’re sitting there having a good old chinwag with everyone?
We then whipped up Fruity Dream, which was a hit with the kids.
There’s something about calling it “ice cream” that gets them very invested 😅
Each child helped add ingredients, watched it come together, and were completely amazed by the big fluffy swirl at the end. Safe to say… there were seconds (and maybe thirds).
What I loved most though, were the conversations.
The questions. The sharing. The little “oh that’s such a good idea” moments.
We spoke about things like:
- what can be made in bulk and frozen
- how to make lunchboxes feel less overwhelming
- cooking more from scratch without overcomplicating it
Because it’s not about being perfect.
It’s about small changes, simple meals, and finding ways to make feeding your family feel a little less heavy.
One of the mums summed it up so perfectly afterwards:
“It was a really nice, relaxed group of mums eating great food and watching a demo…”
And this part really stuck with me:
“If I’d known it was a Thermomix demo, I probably wouldn’t have come… but I’m really glad I did.”
Which honestly says everything.
Because that’s exactly what I wanted this to be.
Not a “demo.”
Not a sales pitch.
Just a space where you feel comfortable, learn something new, and leave feeling inspired.
Whilst I shared how I use my Thermomix along the way, what mattered most was that everything we did could be recreated in any kitchen.
I sent everyone home with the recipes from the day, and more importantly, a few ideas they could actually use.
If you’ve been feeling stuck in a bit of a rut with meals…
or just need some fresh inspiration…
or even just want a space to connect with other mums while your kids play…
This is exactly why I started this.
A space to come as you are, kids and all, and leave with something that actually helps.
I’ll definitely be hosting more of these 🤍
If it sounds like something you’d love to be part of, I’d love to have you along.
